Is there anyway to adjust the unread time outs on new posts.

I really like the New Post feature. It is an easy way to read the latest posts on the site. I am running into a problem thought that the board is marking stuff as read that I haven't seen yet.

The situation I am dealing with is as follows.
Pop on the site. There are like ten thread that I haven't read. I have time to follow up on five of them. Leave the site. When I come pack later. The five threads that I never read no longer show up in new posts listing. And all the posts in those threads show up as if I had read them, when I haven't even looked at the Forum title, thread or posts. I have found that when I there are a lot of new posts, sometimes I don't even get a chance to go through all of them in one session before they show up as read.

This occurs even if I just access the main web forum and look at no individual form, thread or post.

Thanks

What I have discovered is that when you select the new post button and then close the window or log off, any of the new posts that were on your screen were considered to be read, even if you didn't open any of them. Simply calling them up like that will mark them as read.

If you log off try to leave the window with the new posts active on your screen just like you were still logged on, so that when you reconnect, the links will still be available.

Also if you cannot open a new window with each new post to read, then use your back arrow to back up to the new post screen that displayed all the posts and repeat the process for each post.

I have the ability to open each post into a new window so that I don't have to worry about losing the original window with the individual posted listed.

Did any of this make sense?

Moderators, is this about right?

Yes. This is correct. You can also go to the Tips forum and there are links in the viewing post thread http://www.vn750.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69 that allow you to see all new posts in the last x days.

But unfortunately, as far as I can tell, there is no visual indicator to tell you which ones you have or have not read. The check mark indicates which ones you are subscribed to for email notification. I have my email notification set up to subscribe me to any thread that I create or respond to.
