Hello Mr. Forum Administrater Sir,

I have been making myself crazy trying to figure this avatar thing out. I remember having someone on the KZRIDER.COM forum (just like this one) create a Ride Kawasaki Naked avatar for me because I could not find or create my own. This evening I searched hi and low for a way to create and use my own avatar. One thing I found on other forums like this, was that they had a gallery of existing avatars. I noticed that we have the button to select to access a gallery, but no gallery yet.

Coould I suggest that maybe one of our less technologically challenged members start to develope a gallery and accept other members submissions to be converted to avatars.

One thread I read in another forum was refereing to just this type of thing.

I would have loved to done this for the group but I don't have the appropriate software to convert the photo submissions. I ahve tried every trick at my disposal. Maybe someone else could step up and give it a shot.

I know I would be very thankful. I feel naked without an avatar. :oops:

ok sisnce this morning I had no Idea what an Avatar was, I too tried to create one. I ran into the same problem Yes it looks like we need to create a library. I can work on that if someone wants to get me a compressed file and mail it to me, I'll post it on the site.

I Haven't been able to get any real help in this area either. I have been coresponding with some of the geekier forums and they haven't been much help. These IQ ego tweerps give a little adirect where to look for the info, but they won't actually hand feed it to you. I just want slap the **** out of them sometimes.

Anyway I will keep looking and don't worry about the avatars too much, I didn't realize you were unfamiliar with them.

Chill out and some of us will step up I'm sure.

I uploaded the avitar I made to vBulletin with no problem. See the email I sent you regarding he HTTP errors I get when trying to upload it to this site. Looks like something is not set up the way it needs to be.

I got the same error last night and emailed it to Spence.

He says he has to put the avatar in the library for us, so just email it to him, and he can make it so.

BTW, I tried the vBulletin demo and I was able to upload my avatar to their site without any problems.

Get your favorite digital picture.
use your software that came with your camera or scanner
crop out exactly how you like it to look
then slect all of the resized image with a mask tool
select the resize option and if it gives the size in pixels, then reduce it around 80 pixels in the largest direction. save as jpg or gif image
check file size, if under 6 kb, your good, if over, then your still a bit too big

I have you changed your settings under User CP to show Avatars in the forums?

Supposedly it is fixed. I tried earlier to upload my avatar with no luck. Just tried again and it works. Now to see if it shows up in this reply.

Awesome, I created my own avatar and was able to get it to work.

Can anyone else see my avatar?

I see it now. I had to go in and edit my options to show avatars and signatures. Things are getting better and better.

Until a few days ago I had not even heard the term avatar. Aviator yes, avatar no. Okay so I'm an idiot. I suppose I'll do some surfing and try an educate myself on this whole avatar thing.

Stargazer, you were a migrated user, and by default your options were set to not allow Avatars, signatures or images to be displayed. In addition your time zone was set to western europe.

I fixed all that for you, you are on EST DST, time correct?
