Besides braided brake lines, I was wondering if anyone has upgraded the front brakes on the VN?
I think my discs are just about on the minimum wear limit, so I’m curious if there are any options of interchangeable parts for the front discs and/or calipers with other motorcycles besides the VN? Also can someone tell me the size of the piston in the master cylinder please?

Even though I’m in the process of doing a minor rebuild to the 1986 VN750 that I recently bought, I’ve got to admit that I’ve never ridden one,.. including the one I’m rebuilding.
But I grew up riding ‘80s Japanese 4 cylinder bikes, (Z1000’s, GSX1100’s etc...), so I’m familiar with the ‘ordinary’ braking systems of the day. Years ago, I mounted a set of twin piston Brembo front brake calipers, with braided S/S lines to a Katana that I built, and the difference was phenomenal!!:wow:

I realise the front brakes on the Vulcan may be ‘sufficient’, but better brakes are always a good thing.:smiley_th

I don't know about parts swaps but the standard front brakes are good. I very rarely use the back brake.

had a pair of 6 pot power machine calippers on the front that my mate lent me while i was re-building mine, you could make the front wheel squeel on the road without it feeling like it would lockup on you they where amazing......but very very pricy, and they have six little brake pads in each calipper 'six' they are not cheep so that when i returned them to my mate it cost me ...'not cheep x 12'.... but if money was no object i would replace them tomorrow.

check brembo's site... i know they make pads for our bike... maybe they also make a disc upgrade with calipers. you could also always call them and tell them the specs of what you need, and see if they have anything to match
