Hi everyone. I've been lurking around for a couple weeks and signed up today. My wife and I have an '06 750 that just turned 3k on the odometer. We got it in June and both learned to ride on it along with taking the MSF course. It's pretty much her bike, I only ride it once in a while as I bought an '05 Suzuki C50 about 2 months ago.

I put some new grips on for her, and did some chrome trim around the fenders and tank. The fenders look great, the chrome really sets off the black fender from the tires. Next she wants to modify the seat to remove the passenger backrest. She's short, and keeps hitting her boot on it when she gets on and off the bike. We have a local guy who said he could modify it for us. He made us some saddle bag brackets for cheap too.

We're also looking at some highway bars that we can put some pegs on- I've seen these, does anyone have them or know if they are any good?

Thanks, looking forward to absorbing knowledge about this great bike! :)

Welcome to the site Dan.
There's more than a few folks who have modified the seat to remove the backrest. Doesn't look too bad. I recently got a spare seat from ebay that I was thinking of doing that to also.
As far as the highway bar, for mounting pegs they're not too bad. Some people mention that they have to get used to them being so close to the brake & shift lever, but I don't have one so I can't say for sure.
You will need to remove the right side header exhaust to mount them.
Hope you & the wife enjoy both your rides. :motorcycl :motorcycl
Any other questions, just ask. Someone here can most likely help out :smiley_th

Welcome to the site! Those C50's are nice bike too. I can't help you with the highway bar question, but I'm sure someone will step up for you. Before you put too many more miles on the 750, you need to check your driveshaft to final drive splines for lube. You've probably read by now that there is an issue with a sleeping lube guy on the assembly line for our bikes.

Anyway, enjoy the site and ask plenty of questions!

Welcome, be sure to read the Vulcan Verses. as for the seat there was a bike on ebay that was done like that, if its still listed you could look at that to see how it will look. I also remember seeing at least one over on the yahoo site. As Fergy said SPLINE LUBE!!!! look at his write up for the procedure, he took the time and did better than any book could explain.

Excellent documentation Fergy!

Somehow if my wife came home and found her bike apart like that I'd be in some serious trouble. While something like that is not beyond my ability, it's certainly beyond my desire these days. I used to do all my own work on my cars out of necessity- couldn't afford a mechanic! Nowadays this would be something I'd have done. We have a 3 year warranty and a full service plan for her bike, so I can have them check it at the appropriate mileage, and if it has a problem, we should be covered under the warranty.

Was there ever any kind of list of VIN's or certain production runs or anything like that that were susceptible to not having the right spline lube done at the factory?
