: How often do you check your tire pressure
B K R 10-13-2006, 02:56 PM There are a lot of post covering the correct pressure for various tire. However how often do you check pressure to ensure they are correct. Please mention what gauge you use to measure. The poll is multiple options so you can select all options that apply to you. However I would request all to provide atleast one response in frequency of checking and one in the gauge type used for checking category
hyperbuzzin 10-13-2006, 04:54 PM I try to check it atleast once a month and usually use a digital gauge.
cegodsey 10-13-2006, 06:58 PM I ran 12 lbs in my rear tire for 3000+ miles. Stupid tires are stiff enough not to show low pressure. Now I try to check mine at least twice a year.
Imnohero 10-13-2006, 08:09 PM Twice a year??!
Ok, well, I check my motorcycle weekly (usually on sunday) and I check my car once/month.
free wheel-e 10-13-2006, 09:26 PM i check mine every day that i ride. when all you got is two of them you gotta play it safe
cegodsey 10-13-2006, 10:53 PM I check my car when the tires look funny.
hgree 10-14-2006, 01:38 PM I use the color coded caps that monitor pressure and can check everytime I start the bike.

I did that for a while until I figured out that they don't work.
B K R 10-19-2006, 02:06 PM For those with personal digital gauges, how do you get the pressure for the rear tire. The clearance to get the nozzle in there for reading is tight.
My gauge has a bent tip even then I am not able to get the reading.
Hizzo3 10-19-2006, 03:16 PM i am almost certain you can get a new valve stem that does a 90 deg bend... just make sure you rebalance it afterwards.

My digital gauge has a 90º top, not just a slight bend, so I don't have any problems with that.
Dianna 10-19-2006, 04:33 PM Or a tire gauge for smaller clearance

airboss 10-19-2006, 08:33 PM I give mine a good kick everyday, check with gauge once a week, they're always up ...but....ya never know
Hizzo3 10-22-2006, 11:06 PM ummm you are a theft deterent device?
hyperbuzzin 10-23-2006, 02:15 AM Hey Doc, welcome.

ummm you are a theft deterent device?
Hey !!
There was another spam post here awhile ago. Some Doctor selling 'legal' pills.
But good guess Hizzo !
cegodsey 10-23-2006, 03:10 AM Dang it, somebody deleted a post, 'cause the last two remarks made no sense.
Sky Rider 10-23-2006, 02:18 PM yea, Hypers spam costume email got re routed to this forum and then deleted.
weh44att 11-15-2006, 02:02 PM I also have the color coded caps to check the pressure. Check them every time before I start the bike up. Sure is alot quicker with just a glance.

Can you buy those for the exact pressure we run or are they adjustable, or are they factory set at one generic reading?
hyperbuzzin 11-15-2006, 02:19 PM The ones I found HERE (http://www.smart-traveler.info/accu_pressure_safety_caps.html) come in these ranges.....26-40 PSI, by 2 pound increments, then 44, 50 & 60.
Also heavy duty ones from 65-120 PSI, by 5 pound increments.
Interesting edit. From the site I linked to I found this.....
The government has proposed a new rule mandating that all vehicles made after November 2006 have systems to warn drivers about low tire pressure. This is in response to a recent recall of 6.5 million Firestone tires.
But, when those Firestone tires went bad, there was no time for a warning! The tread just split from the tire.
