: Wingerline Crashbars
talie 07-20-2004, 12:24 PM I finally got my Wingerline crash bars and I immediately set to work figuring out how to put them on. It took me about an hour, working by myself, and the last bolt was a bugger to get lined up but I did it and I have to say they look awesome. They're very sturdy, they look nice, and they really weren't hard to attach. I didn't even have to move the exhaust pipe. If you wanna see what they look like on my bike, they're in the bottom pictures on my bike page... http://www.geocities.com/taliehart/bike.html
I'm pretty excited about becoming a better wrench wench. I've added the saddlebags, some chrome trim, the windshield and the crashbars all by myself now and did my own oil and filter change too!

beavis 07-20-2004, 01:10 PM your site must be popular, I couldnt get on to look at the bike, it said it has exceeded its data transfer allocation, try again later. sounds like your on your way to being a regular wrench.

Chilly 07-20-2004, 02:07 PM they look good and good job to you. Questions for you, where did you get them, how much and can you put pegs on it to make to give you highway pegs. After my run this last week (only 1500 miles) I wish I had highway pegs.

talie 07-20-2004, 02:52 PM http://tinyurl.com/3gvqk is the site where I ordered them. It took a while to get them because they were on backorder. They cost $119 and came to $133 with shipping but I forgot to tell them I was a VROC member and apparently they give a slight discount to you if you state that.
Yes, you can put highway pegs on them. I plan on getting a pair though I do more local riding than anything.
Just as an extra comment, I had someone remind me to be careful when using the highway pegs because it obviously delays your response time in getting to the back brake, and though it kind of goes without saying to someone who's already an experienced rider, I thought I'd repeat his warning!

Chilly 07-20-2004, 03:21 PM Nother question for ya, Is Pa. considered the RAINY STATE? I got hit with the rain last Monday on the turnpike at Breezewood headed east and it seemed to rain the whole time I was in Pa! left yesterday headed south and got to Del and was in sunshine.

Bruce 07-20-2004, 10:38 PM talie,
Your new crashbars look good. I have the Jardine Posa bar which is hwy bar/ crash bar. I tested it out about a week ago during a low-side get-off. It bent a little but saved my leg and the left side of the bike. I used a breaker bar to bend it back into shape. Yours looks stronger, besides the Jardine isn't made anymore. Check out Kuryaken, they make some sweet pegs.
IASKRU12 07-20-2004, 11:44 PM Nice job. Nice crashbars. Really like what you have done with the bike. :)
What a finely tuned package you are, and the bike is coming along nicely as well.
Seriously though, keep up the good work. The Wrench Wench title is well deserved here for another Vulcan Vixen. Surak is coming along nicely and Bulldog's description of 'Sport Crusier' is right on the money with the Joe Rocket accessories.
Love the look.

choppbobby 08-06-2004, 11:46 PM Many VN 750 owners have had problems with ordering the Wingerline. Did you have any trouble with ordering them?
Some folks said that the Wingerlines did not fit their 750 properly. Did you have any problems in this regard? Who did you buy it from?
How long did it take to get your Wingerlines? and how was the quality? Many complain of poor chrome and bad workmanship.
Sorry about so many questions.
Bob
talie 08-08-2004, 07:02 AM Bob, no need to apologize about the number of questions! That's what we're here for. I did have the same trouble others had when I ordered my Wingerlines from Accessories International. They were on backorder. It was three months later that they emailed and said they were on the way. The chrome quality was not perfect, but it was rather nice. The only thing I'd comment on was the joints were not ground completely smooth, but they were chromed rather well. They fit the bike perfectly. I had no problems with getting them on other than the last bolt, where I had to apply some pressure to get it back into place. I've heard horror stories from others who've ordered these same bars and because of their experiences I doubt that I will ever order from the company again. However, my experience with them was really not that bad. I must be one of the lucky ones!

choppbobby 08-08-2004, 01:10 PM Hi Talie, and thanks for the reply.
I have been a member of VROC and the VN 750 Yahoo group for a long time, so I know what you mean by "that's what we're here for."
I am still trying to decide on which crash bar to get:Wingerline or Kawasaki. The Wingerline with s&h is $155.97, and the Kaw is $107.90 locally.
But my concern is how will my legs fit in each one of these? Can I straighten my legs with each of them? Can't tell looking at pics.
Thanks again.
Bob

dgcam55 07-18-2005, 06:59 PM Tallie,
Your crashbars look good. I went ahead and ordered them for myself, but I would appreciate it if you can confirm something for me.
Did your bars have holes drilled into what appears to be the underside of them? I assume this is for ventilation/condensation ventilation...but I am not really sure.
Also..do you have some close up shots of your bars? I have been struggling trying to figure out how they go on. I am wondering if I got stuck with a set that doesn't line up.
Thanks..
Dom
dgcam55 07-19-2005, 08:16 PM Talie,
Never mind. I got them on. It too (like you) took me about an hour to figure it out and do the job. I myself, and like you and not very mechanical. This was the first thing I personally have done to the bike since I got it a couple weeks ago.
I had alittle trouble in two areas. For other who order this, know the following:
1) The upper bolt on the right located behind the exhaust pipe - no need to take the exhaust off since you only need to loosen the bolt to get the "U hook" under the bolt. (I was attempting to try and get it off...no need to bother).
2) The lower bolt on the left side behind the gear shifter is hard to get to with the gear shift being there. Just remove the gear shift - its a single bolt. No big deal.
Other than that, the bars are chromed very well, all the holes lined up, and I didn't have to bend anything to get them on. :)
(Incidently...it took me about 1 week and a half to receive them once I placed my order on July 4th weekend...not bad!. So they must be back in stock).
You can see some pics on the yahoo forum:

darian 08-06-2007, 10:52 AM Hi!
I just found this forum, even I have my Vulcan by more than 1 year...it's excellent! As I am a small guy(vertically challenged,as I found called somewhere :) ),and layed down my bike a few times,I always wanted a big crash bar. I'd like to see more detailed pics,if it's possible, mostly from the front of the bike,so I can figure it out how wide those bars are. Thanks!

This is an old post. After seeing it, I gotta wonder how Talie's doing now a days.
Hope all is going good for ya Talie :smiley_th
onto the reply.....
As for a pic, here's a shot from the gallery of Red Baron's ride.
The engine guard doesn't extend out really far, and is considered more functional for very low speed laydowns,
or 'while stopped' drops.

And here's another from RLKelly's ride

I like your poetry!
hyperbuzzin 08-07-2007, 04:55 AM Didn't you use to be "Kawgirl"?
Yep, that was Kawgirl. The original post is from '04.
At first she was Talie, then re-registered as Kawgirl because of some kind of log-in troubles.
She hasn't been around for awhile though.
I did go through her town (Venus, PA) on my way back from the Erie ride,
but didn't see any Vulcans.
niterider 08-19-2007, 07:23 PM I have wingerline and they different than those.

I have small feet and I had to get used to the limited space give for the brake and shifter.

Ya know, I was just thinking about that the other day. I don't have any crashbars, and wasn't really sure if the pics I referenced were the Wingerline's or Kawasaki brand.
Thanks for straightening that out. :smiley_th

Last I heard from her, she was moving to Knoxville to go to graduate school I think.

UncleGomer 02-17-2008, 09:28 PM I got mine used from another VN750 owner. Don't know where he got them.
ipfreely 02-20-2008, 09:25 AM Does anyone know if Wingerline Crash Bars will work with Jardine Forward Controls? I would hate to buy them only to find out they hit or I cant get my feet on the controls.:motorcycl
niterider 02-20-2008, 09:53 AM You will have a hard time just working your stock controls with the bars on. I don't think that you can use the forward contols with them on there. I will get a close up picture later and post it.

ipfreely 02-20-2008, 11:18 AM Thank You very much. Guess that answers my question.
