I bought a nice used '94 VN750 with 34k miles a few weeks ago.

The only things I plan to do to it is put in a brighter headlight bulb (a Phillips Visionplus) and some hard side luggage.

Following the advice in this forum I like the Givi E21 luggage.

Thanks !

welcome! congrads on your bike!
post some info about yourself: location, etc.

as far as headlights i would recomend PIAA instead. heard a lot of warm recomendations from motorcycle parts dealer i know (even though he doesn't sell them).

IMO good choice on luggage. i'm myself not a fan of classic cruiser leather bags.

Welcome, I am new too, though it didn't take me long to start a few threads and offer my own feeble, but well-intentioned advice. I just bought the Nelson-Riggs CBDR (or something like that) 1000's. I had to do a couple of mods to get them to fit well on my bike, but they are big, and while not hard bags, they were only 89$ shipped. Just FYI. Again, welcome and tell us a bit more about yourself.:pepper:

I am in the Greater Los Angeles area (Glendale to be specific). The 2006 VN750 is basically sold out in this area, so I started looking again for a used one and believe I got a good deal on this one (34k miles, good maint., $1800 cash).

I bought the bike mostly to ride around and have fun with on the weekends. I have never ridden on the street before, just dirt bikes when I was a kid. So getting used the relatively heavy cruiser bike in traffic is taking so doing.

I was considering the PIAA Extreme White bulbs, but they are awfully expensive and the guys on the VN750 Yahoo Group seem to think the Phillips bulb is just as good for half the price. Plus I can get the Phillips bulbs at the local Cycle Gear store.

The bike came with some leather side bags that are probably as old as the bike. Especially here in LA, I would really like something hard and lockable (sprinkler resistant is a plus).

I am in the Seattle area and have had my 94 since Dec. of last year. I put on over 3,000 miles and have no complaints or problems.

Just follow the advice. Buy a maintenance free battery and check your splines. I did both and I am glad I did.

My bike had a brand new wet battery installed right before I got it. I still bought the maintenance free battery and sold the wet cell battery on Craigslist.org for $10. (That size battery fits alot of different bikes.)
