Monday 9-Jan-11 for a little over an hour. Anybody else out there bravin' the cold? I was the only bike I saw and the guy with the plow on the front of his truck gave me kind of a funny look. LOL!!! Just curious who's still out there.:motorcycl

I rode a little yesterday, but we were pushing 50 degrees so it wasn't all that cold.

I was out after I got home from my midnight work shift. Put on the ususal warm gear and hit the road for a few hours again. There were a few riders out but we certainly were in the minority. I can not see letting this weather go to waste when the roads are still dry. I believe the cold air is about to hit us for a few days soon but once it passes through I will be back out again.

^ Me too, I won't waste a sunny day just because it's a cold sunny day. Snow is another story but alas, we don't have to worry about that just yet. Soon enough - but not yet...

So far, I've ridden every day this year. I don't see how it can last though.

We have had unusually warm weather here for the past 3 weeks, and I have seen one or two riders out almost every day. The cold and a little snow came down today, and is forcast to stay for a while, so the riding seems to be over for the forseeable future. :(

Very nice, despite the overcast. So did you ride?

Awww, yeah I guess there is a definitive end-of-season up there huh? How does a return ride look for you next season?

Well I sure plan on riding again next season! :smiley_th
Probably need to spend a few days slow riding in some parking lot practice when I start though.
I know I need to get more exercise than I am getting at work in order to rebuild the strength in my arms and legs.

The toenails or the ATV? The toenails because they have given me trouble for years, growing in and all besides what use are they anyway? The ATV because I live on a slick steep hill that is much easier to navigate with an ATV when it snows, plus it has handlebars and an engine and is fun to ride too!

you have an exaggerated view of my intestinal fortitude, Dr's Office with major numbing included :wow:

I never felt a thing,I actually watched, but about 5 hours later ,I came as close to hating that Dr. as I have ever came to hating anybody,in my life!

^ LOL!!! "exaggerated view of my intestinal fortitude!" That's hilarious!!! Well ok, glad you're better - or will be soon anyway.

Cold front rollin' in round these parts today. High yesterday was 52. Tomorrow the high will be 31. I guess Winter's officially here! Anybody else ride when it's that low?

Alright...!!! I also think you need to get the exercise and build up in the arms & legs, but keep in mind also that the slow riding in the parking lot could call for a lot of sudden stress on that hip replacement, you know the fall over catch, or almost... Anyone, even me, can ride fast, but few can ride slow...lol... Anyway be careful on that new hip thingy, we want you back ridin, not back on crutches or a walker... Lets ride next season...:smiley_th...:smiley_th...:beerchug:...
Have a good one...Old Dog...

I been out a few times locally here this winter in between doctors and hospitals. Between the 2 mountains where I am, I lose 3 hrs of sun in winter, so its always at least 8 deg colder than say, in Warwick in the flats.
Planning on getting a few days in this week...supposed to get up to 42. All I got is a few 15 mi trips for tests at the hosp, so will work out (a cruise to the diner after !). But IMO, winter's over in the NE (really, never came).

Aww, man !...I got in 2 great days of riding, went to go out today to test my windshield trim job, and found the front carb had dumped a load of gas into the crankcase. I shut her down before even leaving the driveway, and drained all the oil. Looks like a carb rebuild for sure for me. Figures too, wednesday is supposed to be 50 here ! Dang !!! :(

Went for a ride today, sunny and in the sixties but I got news of one of my young cousins being found dead this morning in Tenn.,not sure whether it was drugs or her diabetes took her out. This is a call I knew was coming and it was a matter of time.

All her family tried to help her and get her started on a better path some times it seems no matter how much you try,if they are bent on destroying themselves ,there ain't no stopping it.

This hits me pretty hard because she and my daughter are the same age and she was Kayla's first bestie. She used to stay at my house when she was young and Kayla stayed at hers.As children they were hard to separate but as she got older she started hanging with the rough crowd and my daughter would not join in and they kinda drifted apart. Now I have spent the afternoon with her Grandmother(my aunt) and who tried to keep her at her house and let her live with her,but she just couldn't stay away from all the pillheads, she had become one too.

A young and lovely girl of 26 years is now dead and for what??If you have children who are addicted in your life try to help them, maybe we can try to help one and one less death would make it worth it.Don't give up,this one may be gone ,but she didn't have to be,maybe one more chance is all somebody needs.

Sorry for rambling so but I just don't want to see any one go through this if it is at all preventable.

Those of you who know how, Pray and those who don't know how, learn how to,your children may need you to, after you've done every thing else you can.:(

^ Wow, so sorry to hear it Denny, that really is tragic. My condolences to you and the other family members she left behind at such a young age.

My twin brother was a raging alcoholic until about a year ago. I saw him delequesce into something I never thought I'd see. He lost his job, totaled two cars in two days, almost burnt his place down by turning the stove on then passing out, and even did some time in state. He changed his life completely - even went back to college at 33, which is ballzy! So there's one saved for the record.

If you need anything at all, even an ear, hit me up. You have my contact stuff. Hang in there Denny.
