The Chicagoland Ride for Kids is being held on Sunday, July 16th 2006.

This event has changed locations to the Allstate Campus at 51 West Higgins Rd. between Barrington Rd and Rt. 59 in South Barrington (Hoffman Estates area). Registration will be between 7am - 9am with take-off being at 9:30 SHARP. There will be fresh coffee and doughnuts awaiting you. Please arrive fully fueled as this is fully fueled as this is a Police Escorted staggered two-column procession to the Celebration of Life - Approx. 48 miles. For 2006, there is an all new route due to the new location. Once again it will be a loop starting at Allstate (in Hoffman Estates) and ending at Allstate in Hoffman Estates.

The money raised by the Ride for Kids event will go toward Pediatric Brain Tumor research in hopes of finding a cure for this terrible affliction. Last year, a fellow Windy City VROCer lost his son to a brain tumor. Patty and I are going on this ride in memory of Joey Barry.

There was a local ride today for a young boy who lost his dad and two brothers in an accident inwhich a wood chipper trailer came disconnected from a dumptruck and hit their minivan head on.
The boy was in the van also and was the only survivor.
Unfortunatly I'd only heard about it late yesterday, and already had plans for today.
The ride I take Sunday will be in his honor though, as well as an online donation, if I can find the site.
