I have 2006 that the gas tank has hole around the tail of tank,The could not fix ,so my deal is ordering me a new tank, but it comes in around the end of july ,so the dealer put on a 2005 tank so i can keep ridding. My question is both tanks leak some gas out the top tank around the cap. Am i putting too much gas in ..

Is your bike a california model? How much gas are you putting in?

I have a 2004 tank on my 1995 and haven't had any problems with gas leaking. I usually keep it on the center stand or when the tank is full, I watch how I park so the lean angle is not too great. I fill mine to about 1/4 of an inch (or a little less gas) from the back upper lip of the filler spout. When I fill up, I make sure there is no gas in the area around the gas cap.
