There have been numerous posts regarding NJ riders and meeting members of this group for new rides in the general area. If you are interested in a future initial one day gathering here in NJ combined with a group ride please respond to this post so I can gather some contact information. I am thinking that we can meet for breakfast and then head out for a good ride afterwards. If anyone has a specific meeting place in mind please make suggestions with your response. I ususally meet with a group in Pennington, NJ (Brass Ring) on Sunday mornings and head out for rides along the Delaware River on both the NJ and PA sides. If this brings enough interest we can possibly have other future gatherings starting in different areas of the state. The main idea is to meet like minded riders and enjoy new riding areas. This is all very informal and any suggestions or assistance would be greatly accepted. Please feel free to respond with any contact information you are comfortable with using for future use. I am hoping this can be done in a manner that "newbies" and more experienced rides will enjoy. Thanks.

I'm in. I have a tough time seeing as I rarely get out for rides that aren't standard commute, because most of the rest of the time my wife works so I gotta watch my daughter.

That said, with at least a week or two notice, I could get a babysitter for a saturday or sunday ride.

I'll PM you with my e-mail and phone number.

I live in Morris Plains and am willing to meet just about anywhere in NJ that isn't say further south then say exit 8 on the Turnpike

Glad to see the quick response and interest. I will keep you updated as things progress. I was thinking that we may be able to have interested riders meet at different locations and then ride onto the main meet location. This may help some that may be riding into unknown locations. Again if anyone has any ideas regarding this whole setup please speak up. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I'm in! I live in Clinton which is Central Jersey but a little more North. I live right near 2 enormous reserviors that, as you can imagine, have fantastic riding roads around them.

If some or most can be available with only a weeks notice, maybe we could alternate locations. Put one person who already agreed to ride "in charge" of the meet and have them give the meeting location then lead the ride. If it's too far for you that time, so be it. If you can't make it, so be it. If you can, awesome! That way it would never be the same ride and we could potentially see most of Jersey. The only problem I could see with this is: the coordination becoming cumbersome. Maybe we could run a logistical pilot once or twice and see if it's a nightmare.

Liberty,

I am just trying to see if there is as much interest as I thought from comments to one of your earlier posts regarding people getting together for a group ride. I am also watching the thread about your longer ride westward. That sounds great but at this time I am not ready for a week or two in the saddle. I hope this Jersey one day ride will get more members together and get riders to see more of the country side that is so close to so many major populated areas. I will keep you in the loop and I look forward to your wisdom with all this. Ride safe and ride often.

This looks like a possible hook up for me as well. I live in Bethlehem, PA just across the river from Phillipsburg, NJ. I ride along the Delaware river in PA on RT 611 on occassion which doesn't sound too far off from you. Got 2 boys playing soccer but weekend conflict with their games should be over in another month. Keep me posted on plans. Thx.

OK, so let's do this thing. couple of suggestions.

Memorial Day ride - This may be tough for many of you, probably myself too with the family and all, but worth a suggestion.

If not how about a Friday ride, I would take any friday off work over the next month or so for a ride, since I don't get many opportunities to just go ride.

Who's interested?

I am almost ready as I finished machining the headlight brackets for my bike today. I am going to paint them for now so as to get on the road again. The wait for having them chromed is eight weeks or more at this time so I will put that off till the cold weather returns. I can get by without the light bar up front but that will be a quick fabrication anyway and may still get done within the next week or two. I know LIberty Pilot was also interested in a group ride in the area so if anyone has ideas as to a meeting place just speak up and I am sure we can work out the logistics. I work every other weekend but since I am on the midnight shift I can still get out for daytime rides on work days. I am open to hearing any suggestions.

I rode 611 with a sportbike buddy a couple weeks ago. That is a phenomenal ride along the river. I met a buddy from this site at the Stewarts on Main Street (Rt. 22). It's a great meeting spot because it's really hard to miss (even though I missed it the first time - LOL). The parking lot is really big so it's good for a bunch of bikes. I can't do Friday 27-May but I could do Sunday the 29th or Monday, Memorial Day. Here's Stewart's address:

Stewart's Root Beer
235 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ

I agree and I am in. Still have to double check the weekend schedule with the Mrs but I believe it is clear. I am finishing my headlight brackets today and will begin painting them tonight before work. I should have at least one light wired in by Sunday afternoon and ready to ride. I will be using a second switch for the second headlight and I still haven't decided where I want to locate the switch so that is the delay on that one. I am working on the light bar next and hope that is frabricated and ready for paint by next Friday. The actual fabrication isn't difficult but learning to use all the different tools correctly is the time consuming part. Lucky that I have a good friend with a well equipped shop and he is patient. Added to all that, he is a long time rider so it all works out. He built his own trike that is powered by a VW turbo deisel and knows his stuff so I am confident under his tutelage.

Hope to see you in ten days.

Read Post #'s 13 and 15 for the set date, time and location for the initial meet up. Anyone interested can send me or Liberty Pilot theirs cell phone number via PM and I will try to keep everyone informed of any last minute changes. It would be good if any other interested riders let this "thread" know of their interest. I will send you my cell number and you can contact me the day of the ride if you are running late or need extra directions. We still have over a week so all should be able to preview the internet for the Stewart's location. Please see Post #10 of this thread. Also please let us know if your are bringing additional riders just so we have a rough idea and can possibly plan on a stopping area that will accomodate all bikes. Thanks for the interest and I am looking forward to a great ride.

Liberty Pilot, let me know what I can do to help with this inaugural ride. I am pretty much ready with my bike and hope to have several days to spare before Monday to work out any unseen/unplanned problems

Concerning inclement weather, there will be a "go, no-go" decision made at 10:30 on Monday morning. If it's NO GO only, you will receive a text message letting you know this. Really looking forward to noon time on Monday and meeting the riders behind some of the posts here plus getting in some good miles on the Vulcan. Mounted the twin headlights yesterday and wired in just one for the time being. I need to make a few minor unseen modifications before the final installation is completed. Next projects are the new front light bar with driving lights followed by the rear T/S relocation with bags. This first project has raised my shop skills a bit so the work should progress a little quicker in the future.

See you on Monday at Stewarts.

I just returned from the initial NJ Riders ride and I believe everyone had a great time. We may have to find a different name for the riding group as there were a few riders from PA and we would not want to cause any disrespect. There were nine riders with a few not involved with the Vulcan 750 forum and some even rode non-Kawasaki bikes but they were welcomed and added to the over all enjoyment. Everyone met at Stewart's in Lebanon, NJ (eventually that is as one person got confused as to the location after being the original poster of the meeting spot and giving the exact address for everyone else.... see Post #'s 10 and 13 as I promised not to mention any names) and we cruised the backroads to Hot Dog Johnny's in Buttzville, NJ. Upon arrival the discussion turned to why Hot Dog Johnny's is such a land mark eatery. Kid Chaos always liked the idea of going to "Buttzville" as a kid and he still had a smile today with the whole idea. Some thought the dirty water dogs had an added flavor but did not want to venture a guess as to the secret ingredient in the water. It was said that they just use the water that runs past the back on its way to the Water Gap.

Thanks to all those that joined in, Kid Chaos, Ship762, Johnrwilco and Colleen, Liberty Pilot, John, Ron and Ship762's friend with the Boulevard. I hope we can schedule another ride in the near future and I also hope more riders can join in the fun. If anyone has a suggesstion as to a location please write up a post. I am sure there would be any number of people to help plan and it doesn't take much of that. We just need to choose a date, time and location to meet, plus a location to ride to. Maybe we can start from PA next time and get some twisties in along the way on that side of the river.

Ron and John, thanks for the great route choice. Pictures will follow in my next post here.

As a side note, I actually met the previous owner of my present bike. It was great to learn a little bit of the past history of this machine. Thanks for the information Ron and don't worry, I will keep her clean and healthy just as you did.

Hey, thanks to all who came on the ride today. Great group of folks to ride with and a beautiful day to ride. Next time maybe a ride into eastern PA on a covered bridges tour. We did it last year with the Central Jersey Motorcycle Riders Group and it was a lot of fun.

Shout out to John and Colleen. Check out the Kawi 900 classic it's got a similar feel to the nomad but on a smaller scale and lighter weight. It's also available in a touring edition.

Ditto the responses on what a great day riding with others in the group and meeting you guys and gals. When we peeled off for PA we hit Rt 611 in about 5 miles through Belvieder and cruised down the PA side of the Delaware River stopping at the Riverside a popular biker bar for a beer on the deck. As you might know Rt 611 is a great riding route along the Delaware River that we might consider traveling on future trips. Can cut back into NJ south of Easton PA and go through Frenchtown and back up toward Clinton where we started today. Thanks to all who organized the ride.

Thanks to all who joined, it was a really good time. I got to know the area I just moved to way better. I've been to the riverside with a buddy as well. That place is great and it's a great ride along the river to and from it. We should go there sometime too. Here's a couple pics from the ride. Liberty,

Next ride you can be in all the pictures if you want and we may even let you ride up at the front of the pack if you arrive on time. (lol) I will vouch that your Meanie does have emblems on it that say "Vulcan" direct from Kawai. I believe you said you rode 611 recently and there was another favorable vote for that in an earlier post on this thread from Ship762. It sounds good to me and maybe we can work in Riverside for our food stop. I have run along the river on the PA and NJ side from Lambertville/New Hope up to Frenchtown a couple of times and that is pretty good. I am not sure of the route number of the roadway. Maybe we can have a meeting place in NJ and then ride to PA to meet up with the rest of the group if that helps anyone. This may bring a few more riders to the group.

Ship762,

How about suggesting a route and meeting location and then we can all work on a good day and time? You can start a new thread listed as 2nd NJ/PA Ride and see what kind of interest you get. If you need some help just ask.

^ I'm in. The cliffs along the river on 611 on the way to the Riverside are really amazing. I'm guesstimating they jut 400 to 500 feet into the sky. They're really something to see, they almost look fake. Plus there's places to sit outside next to the river at the aptly named, Riverside.

Don`t get sunburned too often as the damage can turn into skin cancer.
Get some good Aloe Vera gel to rub on when the sunburn is fresh and you will never know it burned.:)

I am definitely interested in this set up. We just have to work out a date and time. I work midnights and every other weekend but I am home by 9:30 AM and just need time to change clothes and from four wheels to two. This could be a great ride. I had a lot of fun on our first ride and am also looking forward to do another. Sorry to say that between a deck project I have going on and kids soccer games my weekends are pretty jammed up until July. Anyway, here are some dates I will throw out for consideration for that Delaware Water Gap route I found:

Sat, Jul 2nd
Sun, Jul 3rd,
Mon, Jul 4th
Sun, Jul 10th
Sat, Jul 23rd

That's not to say if a weekend in June works for the rest of you, you should just do it rather than waiting until July. I am sure there are other rides in NJ/PA I can hook up with you all on.

Day looks to be hot so we are going to get started early to beat the heat, plus I have tickets for a IronPigs baseball game later in the day that I need to take my kids to. We are looking to hit the road around 9 or 10 at the latest. Happy to hook up with any PA or NJ riders that wants to join.

Here is the route again:

Could meet you anywhere along the route. Write back if you want to join up and we can figure out the meeting place(s) accordingly.

I really wish I could but while riding today, my bike just shut down and would not restart. It has no electrical power as the neutral and oil light do not even come on. I am not sure what is wrong. I had to have it flat bedded to a shop. Right now they are telling me that it may be a week before they can even begin to take a look at it. I guess I am stuck with the cage only for the time being.

I had the same thought as you earlier today and was going to see if anyone wanted to meet for breakfast on Sunday morning where I usually meet several other groups of riders. After that I thought we could ride out to PA along the river. I guess that will have to wait till I am back on two wheels again. Enjoy your ride and keep me in mind for the future.

I'd love to join but there's only a slight chance I can make it. I'm having company over that weekend and I don't know what time on Sunday they'll be leaving. Keep me posted though, if I can make it, I certainly will.

I was out this weekend, I ended up in Reigalsville. If you guys have a chance to ride that, do so. It is absolutely beautiful, they have antique shops, corn fields, historic towns, vineyards, mountains - the works. On advice from a local I took the ride. I'll definitely be doing that again. I meant to stop to grab pics but every time I took a bend the view got better. I had to keep on keepin' on...

Clinton to Reigalsville? Any particular route or just head that way?

I just headed that way but I remember the roads. I took 173 to 519. 519 will take you straight there. If there's a river next to you and you pass Alba Vineyards, you're there. If you're going, let me know - I'll go with you.

ok, I want to plan a ride, but this Sunday doesn't seem to have a lot of response yet, and also I had a vehicle extrication training course that got cancelled this last Sunday due to ectreme oppresive heat that may be rescheduled for next Sunday anyway.

I will def post here a new date for the ride, hopefully more people will be available

Hi fellaz: I'm a keep monitoring this thread in hopes of catching up with you's. I'm in Bronx, N.Y.; next to the G.W.bridge and looking for fellow Vulcaneers to ride with. Hopefully you will schedule a get-together that I can get to. I love to ride but unfortunately I've been confined to N.Y. city limits (and that sux!) too much stop-n-go's; too hot for that. Hope to see ya's soon; ride safe.

^ Awesome. I just bought my first place last October. There's no shortage of work to be done for sure. Good luck Man, I want a phone call for house warming! ;)

I think we should start a ride at my new place, I would love to see my neighbors faces if we had like 10-15 bikes in my driveway, then roll down the street. :wow:

Wait a minute, wasn't I just complaining about bad neighbors recently. Oh No, they are rubbing off on me.

So far that date is good with my schedule. I hope we can have all the riders from the first ride plus additional riders. It was a good time and I am looking forward to the same again.

If we have enough interest and the originating points are scattered we could have a few initial meeting places and then everyone meet after that at one central location for the actual main ride. I saw interest from the Bronx and there were PA riders interested before and even some southern Jersey riders.

Kick stands up?
