What's up with the spammers lately ? Every day we are hit by a couple of them.Just curious these get through the filters,there's no telly how many don't make it. Has any body else noticed this? It amazes me that people work this hard at making others lives just a little more of a hassle!

That's just it, Denny, they don't work hard. Often they've figured out a way to automate the posts. The only way to truly foil the bogus posts is by going to a captcha system.

Good idea on the captcha system, but in the long run that still makes it difficult on us, because making a post will have to fill in those letters. Spammers have no life and need to rot in he**

The reason they do it is that they make money off of it. You and I know it's spam, but there's enough people that click on links, or do something the spammers want them to do, and they make money.

There was a news story a couple of years ago of a guy who was sending out spam for various companies. He was earning millions per year from it. He was finally caught, but it just illustrates why they do it. Why is there so much porn on the web? Because they make money off of it.

Yeah it's sad what they do to make the money. I ended up closing my website cause the spamming got so bad that there wasn't any way to control it anymore and it ended up leading to hacking of the site. My site was for my video game clan, and it was a professional team that went to tournaments and made money off of competing and what not. After everything happened with the site it sucked. So I know what you mean by all of this. It is just really sad that people will do this and make so much money off of it.

I'll dig a bit deeper and see what else I can do to foil them from attempting selling iphones and purses here. :)

Yes, but there's no captcha for posting. It would be a pain for all of us that don't abuse it, but would at least foil or slow down the spammers. I'm not advocating it, mind you. Just saying...
