Hi: I am new both to this group and to Vulcan ownership. Was wondering if any of you had experienced the following: I recently bought a 1990 750 with 8,000 miles. It's been running well (for a week). Yesterday - it was hot, very hot - the engine started to to act like it was running out of fuel. Around 30-35 mph, it coughed, then conked out. Restarted it. 5 minutes later, the same issue. Plenty of fuel. Restarted it, and it's been fine. This morning, no problem. I ride to work every day, and I'm concerned I'm going to get stuck in New York City rush hour traffic if I don't figure out what caused this and address it. Sound familiar to anyone? -Harlan

ah yes.. the POOGS!...Phantom Out Of Gas Syndrom... its a vent issue with the gas tank...take apart your gas cap.. cearfully...clean it.. clean the vent tube under the gas cap(spray carb cleaner thrut he vent hole and it should get all that gunk out) and you should be good to go.

Welcome to the Vulcan madness Harlan.

Check out post #6 on this thread for detailed directions for cleaning the cap and vent.

PS. no biggy, but you are on the board tech/ avatar tester, etc. forum.

There are several motorcycle area specific technical forums on the board.
This topic actually belongs on the Carbs and Fuel forum.

Go to the newbie forum and introduce your self too.

I hope the cap/vent cleaning solves the POOGS problem.:smiley_th
