Nice! I was out Saturday and Sunday. The nancy across the street that doesn't ride in anything below 70 degrees even went with us. He saw 3 other bikes in my driveway and couldn't resist. We saw ALL sorts of other riders out there too - I fricken love it...

Breaking down and taking mine out tomorrow, 50 and sunny (in Syracuse???), and it's only March 10th! Anyway, need to be real careful about sand, etc., on the roads but with a little extra care, should be a great time! :motorcycl

Thanks LP! It was really fun yesterday. Might rain today but still warm, finally decided not to take it. Rain and 50 degrees makes it a little rough. Good news is that warmer weather is on it's way as we get farther into the calendar. Nice to get a riding fix so early in the season.....

Hey LP - Sure hope you were able to get out last weekend. The weather was awsome and the riding was great! :pepper: Rode over three hours straight on both Sat and Sun. :motorcycl Not sure this weekend is going to cooperate but hopefully a few more hours on Sat. So far everything is running as it should so it's really been fun to cruise around again. Even the Darksiders have been waving back (!!!) if you can believe that. They must be excited to get out again like the rest of us. Sure nice to be riding instead of fixing some more. Anyway, hope you've been able to get some hours in as well. Enjoy! :beerchug:

^ Yeah was able to get some hours in, if by some you mean 4 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. Sunday was something else entirely. I rode the bike to the airport (bout and hour away) and flew for the first time this season with the helicopter's doors off rockin' just a t-shirt! First 'doors off day' of the season is always a really good one. I land and hop back on the bike. For some reason the hour ride home took me 2. ;) I get home and all my neighbors were out back cookin' out. Everything was already done so all I had to do was house a burger and crack a beer. Best day I've had in a looooooong time. :D

This weekend doesn't look too bad - 50 and sunny on Saturday then 60 and sunny on Sunday. I'll definitely be out...

Sure sounds rough! I had a good time just reading about it! Anyway, glad you got the doors off, whole different feeling when flying that way. I've ridden in various Navy choppers that way over woods, desert and open water and love it. Some Jeep cagers can relate in the difference to some extent.

As far as the 2hrs home, don't worry about it. Rotorheads get lost all the time. ;) Enjoy your rides this weekend!

After a "winter" of nothing but rain and snow down here in TX, I can send encouraging words to both of you - the good weather is on its way. Have done a couple of rides at 70 degrees so far this week and am lovin' life (the new tires and clutch play a big part in it). Still, having spent a *lot* of time in Syracuse, NY, I can fully understand the jones you're feelin' for the warmer weather to get there. Take heart, my friends - it's coming! Glad that both of you could get out and about in recent days...

Hey FA - so what brought you to the great white north? TX is quite a ways from Syracuse. You guys got pretty hammered down there this year so glad to hear it's finally warming up and drying out down there. Overall, we had it pretty easy just reaching average snowfall due to a couple late storms earlier this month.

Anyway, send all the warm weather you can!

I'm Navy but I will be willing to slum it for a day if you want to ride. Send me a note and let me know what weekend may work for you. It's actually a more accurate question to ask what brought me down south of the Red river. I wasn't born in Syracuse, but grew up in the Syracuse suburbs. I was rooting for the Orange (still the Orangemen, when I was living there) in the Tournament this year but, of course, we know how *that* turned out. I was still living there when they *built* the Carrier Dome. Played a lot of hockey up in Syracuse...

Yeah, we got pretty well hammered with winter down here. Obviously, "hammered" is a geographically relative term. I recall driving home not even being able to tell where the *road* was during a blizzard in Syracuse, so anything that we get down here has to be measured up to that for real relevance (and nothing we got down here comes close to that), but when you don't have plows and seriously think that sand is an effective remedy for ice (instead of, say, *salt*), weather that would make the average Syracusan yawn becomes perilous here. That, and the number of idiots who think that 4 wheel drive is the cure-all for ice on bridges. Those people have to be disabused of that notion one tow truck at a time...

Supposed to be 70+ all week down here (with a couple of days in the 80s). It'll be windy, but should be a blast on the bike. I think that I'll finally be able to take the thermal liner out of my riding jacket. Eventually, the nice riding weather passes over us and heads to you. Then we get 105 degrees to ride in...

I was out this weekend, I rode to work on Friday and met a buddy on Saturday. Friday at work was pretty comical, the blonde that always seems to hover around the outside of my office sees me walk in rockin' full gear and without a second thought she blurts, "Oh my god are you a biker?" Let's forgive her for that, she's really cute. "Sure am" I answer and she goes, "did you ride in today?" Did I mention she's really cute? "Sure did," I say. "Can we go look at your bike?" "Of course! I'm Mike and you are....." "Carolyn" she says, "Don't know what it is about bikes, I just find them so..." she oozes, "...romaaaaantic." Yes, I'm in!!! We took a look at the bike, she actually knows a little bit about them I was impressed, apparently her Dad has one so she grew up with them. She asked to go for ride 'sometime' and I asked her what she was doing for lunch. At 1, I threw her on the back and took her to a restaurant near by - it was awesome. I love motorcycles.

LP - Get a guest helmet! Quickly!! If she's diggin' on just riding around the corner for lunch, you need to take her out and get the RPMs up! :pepper:

Sawyer - went to HS north of the city. After graduating from college, I moved to the desert southwest to get away from the Upstate New York winters. I'm much happier here in Texas where I can (and do) pretty well ride year-round barring the occasional ice or snow storm. I can attribute to my Upstate NY roots, though, the ability to dress warmly enough to ride roughly 40 miles to work at 20 degrees.... :motorcycl

FA - Living here does thicken your blood. Have a close Buddy from SoCal who now lives in Ft Lauderdale. Every time he visits, he dresses for a blizzard! Everyone else is out in shorts and T-Shirts and he has jeans and a sweatshirt with a jacket nearby, just in case. Too funny!

^ You can say that again!!! So I pull up to her apartment around 1:15 p.m. on the meanie this passed Saturday . I start towards her door as she comes walking out, she looks awesome. "Hey" she says and I get a kiss on the cheek. "Hey, you ready?" I ask. "Yup" she straps on the helmet. It only takes about 15 minutes to get from her apartment to the airport but I took us through horse country since its right there. About 45 minutes later we get the airport. I show her the terminal, lay a couple safety rules on her, then we head to the hangar. We stop on the way and I introduce her to Rick, a buddy of mine working on his R-44 Raven 4 helo.

I tell her to get in and show her what everything does. She's asking all sorts of questions, I could tell she was genuinely interested. Once Rick started the interior inspection I decided to leave him alone. We get to the hangar, I key in, and I notice right away that there's no helicopter - damn. We putz around the hangar for a few and I show her a couple single prop planes. Over the radio I hear, "Brandywine traffic helicopter November five nine one Lima Echo is inbound on a 45 for downwind two seven Brandywine." That would the helicopter I'm looking for! I tell Carrie to wait outside with me, she does. She kept asking what's going to happen and I kept telling her to just wait.

Finally from over the hangar, here comes Carl in lima echo, the R-22 helo. The downdraft is blowing like crazy and its pretty loud, she gets behind me. Carl lands and powers down. Carrie goes "oh my god, my hearts beating like a mile a minute!" Carl gets out and says, "So I guess I'm not putting the machine away?" I turn to Carrie and ask, "What do you think, you wanna give it a shot?" She says, "Sure!" I introduce Carrie and Carl then proceed to fire up the helo. I get her all strapped in, run the checklist, ask her if she remembers everything, then pick up. I taxi out to the runway, make a radio call, and give Carrie one last glance - she's holding on for dear life. I ask if she's cool and she assured me she was. We take the runway, tilt forward, faster and faster then up and up and up.

We get to a thousand feet and I level out. I say, "Ok Carrie, try to rest your back against the seat, let your shoulders fall, and shake out your hands a little. Shake it off, try to relax," she tries. In a calm voice I say, "Look out there, see that huge copper dome? That's Immaculata College. Over there to the West is Philly's silhouette and just beneath us there, that huge white building is the Exton Mall. There's the Schuylkill River winding North, see it?" Nothing. "How ya doing, you ok?" Nothing. "Carrie are you ok?" Finally, "Yeah, I'm ok - I think." Yeah no you're not, back the airport we go.

"Ok try to relax I'm going to bring us back in." "Ok" she manages. I bring us in as smooth as I can and put us down between the hangars. I power down while keeping an eye on her. She's actually doing ok, I've seen worse. I power all the way down, unstrap her and help her out of the machine. We get back in the hangar and I sit her down. "Just try to relax, you'll be just fine a couple minutes." She says with a shaky voice, "That wasn't at all what I was expecting."

I bring the helo back into the hangar and hear her come out of the ladies room. She says again, "Oh man that was not at all what I was expecting! I think its going to take some getting used to but that was FUN!!!!" Yesss, she's back! She was visibly calmer and back to her regular self. I ask if she wants to check out the helicopter museum or if she's had enough of helicopters for the day. She says she'll check it out so off we go, what a tropper right? So we're walking through and she's asking all about how certain things work. I find and down a couple hotdogs. I offered her one but she "wasn't ready for food" just yet. Fair enough.

At one point she's standing near the big garage door at the rear of the museum looking out the window. She comes over to me and says, "look at that, is that big thingy open?" The 'big thingy' was an old inoperable V-22 Osprey that sits outside the museum. Its actually quite the attraction when the museum's full but today it wasn't and unless that big garage door is open, you wouldn't even know its back there. Suddenly I notice this really devious look in her eye and she asks if we can check out. "Of course, lets go," I realize I'm grinning.

We walk out back, there's no one out there. She takes my hand and leads me up the 3 stairs into the Osprey, I actually got a little nervous. She's clearly not interested in checking out the V-22. She puts her hand behind my head, pulls me in WAY close and we start kissing. To avoid any awkward details here, lets just say this girl is rather adventurous.

After a while, we were all set with "checking out" the V-22. We went back through the museum giggling like a couple school kids. She stops and gets a dog - now she's hungry. Anyway we walk back to the airport, I say bye to Carl, and we hop back on the bike. We ride back through horse country to my place and we order wings and ribs. After we ate we tried to have a couple beers and watch Inglorious Basterds but ended up passed out on the couch. I woke up around 11 p.m. and dragged both our asses to bed. We woke up the next morning nice and early because we fell asleep so early the night before. She made cheesy eggs for breakfast, we split a cup of coffee, then I drove her home in the Jeep - it was raining. It was absolutely hands down bar none the best Saturday I've ever had.

On the way to her place she said, "I had an absolute blaaaaast with you Mike. Next time its my turn, I'll take you out somewhere fun!" "Fine with me!" I said. We pull up to her apartment, she kisses me again and says, "Thanks for a great day yesterday, see you tomorrow!" "Ok" I say but I'm thinking, 'you will?' Oh yeah, I work with her! LOL!!!! We're going out to lunch today. This girl rocks, I have no idea how she's single...
