Hey! I finally joined-up, always got great tech info from this site. I ride a 1989 VN750, black with gold pinstripe. Mostly stock, for now except bags, and wind screen. The bike was rarely ridden, it was covered with thick grime and dull finish but after many hours of cleaning and polishing she looks almost new. I am the third owner and my plans are to put more miles than the other owners combined. There are a few carb problems because of the long periods of storage without proper conditioning of gas etc, but i plan a complete overhaul of the fuel system. Two new tires, (stock Dunlop Qualifiers) and she will be ready for spring. I hope to be able to add a few chrome goodies if I can find anything at a decent price. I'd love a new set of pipes. I heard one 750 with Vance and Hines pipes and it sounded awesome.

Welcome. That is not old for a vulcan. That is just hit her prime These bikes are like tanks. They can run forever. I bought mine from a flyboy (airforce and yes he was a pilot) ; she was in a crate for more than a year over seas. My husband is a grunt (Army) and he looked at that carb mess and sent it off to the shop. haha. Anyway they clean right up and are as good as new. Good luck and keep the rubber side down. WooWoo
