Anyone out there in MD (near Balt/DC) want to get together and do a spline lube procedure? I can bring my bike and some beer or whatever tasty beverage you'd like. I've never done this procedure before but I've taken rear axles out of cars and and I'm pretty handy with tools and wrenches. Planning on taking a long trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway near the end of August and I'm not feeling so confident about it without at least looking at my spines to see how they are fairing.

cliff, if you can take a rear axle out of a car, you should have NO problem doing a spline lube! unless you are just bored and just want someone there to keep you company.

find "fergy"'s write up on spline lube and print it out! this is what I did when I first got my vn750. fergy's step by step write up (with pic's too) is just great! it was so easy to do! in fact, I need to put a new rear tire on soon and I will be using fergy's write up to pull and the rear tire and lube the spline too.

If you need help - live or by phone - let me know. I'm up the road in Brunswick, work in Rockville, and can offer whatever help you need. That said, ruger is spot-on about Fergy's write-up. :)

It is as you say - try as I might, I don't think I could get my wife excited about getting grease all over her hands :beerchug:
