I am leaving Saturday morning for MN. My daughter is scheduled to have heart surgery on July 22nd and it is cheaper to ride out than fly and rent a car (more fun too).

We'll say a few prayers that you make it without any problems or mishaps. Good luck and have a good ride.

Would it be faster to take 90 at Billings (H)?

Good Luck & Stay Safe
Here's a Prayer for Your Daughter ............ (Amen)

That adds 20 miles to the trip and takes slightly longer. Plus I know SD isn't very good when it comes to road maintenence... then again neither is ND

back in 82 i drove form Mich to Wa on 94 and 90 wish i had a bike back then , lots of nice contry . didnt have time to stop and enjoy much as i had to repot back to Ft. Lewis after getting married. ( the drive was our honeymoon)
all i can say is , dont push yourself unless you have to , ride at an easy pace and enjoy the trip. I know it will be hard not to think about your daughter while riding but you can do nothing untill you get there, they have come a long way with hart tech. they just put a pacemaker and difibulator in my grandfather and he is 87. he is doing great. dont know the reason for your daughters surgery , but think positeve and things that things will turn out good .

have a safe trip there and back , just wish for you it was for diffrent reasons

I'm going over everything I can think of to be sure my bike is ready for the trip. However, I have never put more than 150 miles on my bike in one day before. Tonight I am changing the spark plugs and going to modify my highway bars to fit my long legs comfortably as the last of my preparations.

I have made this trip many times in a pickup and know all the cheap gas stations to use, but with a range of 130-140 miles between stops rather than 400, I will be making a lot more gas stops.

My daughter is 11 years old and had a heart attack the second week of June. She is doing great recovering and almost back to normal, but needs a surgery to help prevent this from happening again. I do very well sorting through things and the worst is over, so I don't expect to be distracted while riding.
