Here's video of a ride I was on last weekend. It's a low quality cell phone video, but better than nothing.
I'm #3 in the first scene (waving at the camera), first in the second (twisty road) and third in the water crossing.
Roads: California Highway 1 through Big Sur and Naciemento-Fergusson Road (twisty and water).
Video shot by Gary of southbayriders.com.

fun stuff.
you know what I noticed?? Everyone is wearing their gear.
Excellent.
The ladies and gents I've had a few rides with don't. Short sleeves, vests, jeans, sneakers and a couple half helmets. I'm the only one ready for the crash.

Everybody I ride with is ATGATT. I shake my head at the typical cruiser "gear", do they think they are unable to crash?
When I first got my bike, I signed up at more sportsbike oriented forums, where gear is very strongly encouraged. Full gear now is just second nature, don't even think about it. Gear on, go ride. The idea of riding without gear just never occurs.
Can't even remember the last time I was on a ride with someone without full gear. Hmm... nope. Just doesn't happen.
Personal view: Chaps are stupid. They make sense for riding a horse, but not a motorcycle. On a get-off, it's very likely you'll be sliding on your butt. Guess what chaps don't cover? Besides, they look DUMB.
CCspinner: My pants got soaked! But, the overpants are mostly water resistant, and the boots kept my feet dry. 20 miles later everything was dry again.
