I had my rear tire changed today and when I was getting ready to put it back on I noticed numerous cracks in the wheel hub.Dont know if this is normal wear and tear,is it safe to ride, should it be replaced ASAP,just dont know.I did price a new one on bikebandit at a tune of $90 or so.Any comments, suggestions are welcome. Thanks,

Double check and make sure ther are cracks, I have seen several that look like cracks but are actualy casting marks. :beerchug:

Ok at the risk of this sounding like a stupid question how would you tell the difference?

Were this like hair line cracks in the brake drum? If so it is probably okay.

Remove the large snap ring holding the coupler in place and remove coupler. If they are cracks you can hold a light on the oppsite side and see light comming through the cracks. That is a thick and stout coupler and I highly doubt it has several cracks, with the torque that is transfered to that coupler any cracks would have resulted in a failure "pieces" I would bet the farm you are seeing casting marks. :smiley_th

What appear to be cracks are on the coupler on the other side of the brake drum.I will try pulling it out and see if they go all the way through. Thanks, all
