I read on crusiercustomizing.com that some use the ones for the Goldwing as they are longer and thus better suited for the Throttle Boss.

How difficult is it to get the stock ones off?

Grips are still available. The old ones came off fairly easy. I used a butterknife to lift up the end of grip, sprayed in a little silicone lubricant, waited a couple of minutes, a few twists and they slid right off.

I guess it depends on your personal preference. After reading the posts it seems the members use both the 6241's and the 6180's. Let me know if you are still interested.
