Good price, if S&H is reasonable. The Honda stealership locally is asking $23+ CAD for a tube. Less 20% exchange thats about $19 USD.

Ron Ayers sells it too.........................

That's a good price on that site. Do they hit pretty hard on S&H?

Do any of the big retailers sell it or a good substitute? they want 12.48 to ship it to me, for that i might as well go pick it up. Also I know Honda has it but would that be the car dealership as well or would I have to find a bike specific Honda dealer, or am I just simple and you mean by "stealership" your talking the local bike shop in general has it? Got some new tires on the way and wanna be ready for the rear spline lube when I take the wheels off to get the tires mounted

A "stealership" is an authorized dealer, just go to the local Honda Motorcycle Stealership and pick up a tube. :beerchug:

He'll likely have to call a number of stealerships to find the small tubes we require. I called three withing 20 miles and none had it (2 of 3 could not identify it???) so I finally ordered off the web $14.50 incl shipping. :) Can't remember specific link.

My local stealership didn't have it in stock, but could order it and have it within a few days. Cost about $12.60 plus tax IIRC.

I know that every one around here is big on the honda moly paste, but if you work around the mining industry or road construction where there is some expensive equipment that costs big money for down time ,Lokk around and you will see some similar products in moly content and designed for extreme pressure and heat situations, most companies don't put 10 cet lubes in 400,000dollar and up pieces of equipment and the usually buy in bulk cases of grease ,barrels and tanks,if you or a friend works around this kind of equipment, they can usually find you a half full tube ,or fill up small container for you if they ask and it is sometimes the best lube you will ever use,buy it is usually sticky and will stain your clothes and is hard to get off of you,and I am not talking about run of the mill grease in a tube ,but someone is making the moly lube for honda after it is the honda motor company not honda lube company,it has the advantage of being tried and trusted for this application and readily available ,if that's all you feel comfortable go for it but ,it is not the only lube that will do the job and do it well.

^It's not cheap (unless your friend can get it free), but it is good stuff. It's what I used rather than the Honda Moly 60.

Just want to add that this stuff is actualy better than the Honda product, and available online too:

http://guarddogmolylubricants.com/gd570.shtml

A 2 oz. jar is all one would need. $15.15 plus 7 bucks shipping.

And if you really love your bike you should be using Krytox grease...

Looks like I'll be ordering the moly online. Stopped by the Honda stealership today and ordered the o-ring that I might need to replace when I do the spline lube. I asked if they carried or could get the Honda Moly-60 paste and the parts guy just gave me a puzzled look and pointed me to a tub of something else he recommends. It said nothing about containing any moly so I wasn't sold. He was also curious as to why I wanted to do this when the bike has less than 10k miles. He said that procedure is way far down the maintainence schedule and the schedule was going overboard in his opinion. I just told him I'd feel better if I opened her up and knew what was going on in there before an issue arose.

So there is an O-ring I gotta worry about then I do the spline lube? I guess I better get on the ball and start reading some more of these spline lube proc's.

Kaw Part # 92055.
Interesting how the "parts guy" has an opinion and probably knows nothing about the history of the VN750. Gotta love the parts guy. Over the years, we've come across a small percentage of 750's, mostly in the 2000-2006 range, but even older ones if I remember, that weren't spline lubed from the factory. Mine was one of them. At least "we" know about it...

Got lucky and was able to pick up the last tube they had. 11.79 isn't bad considering the shipping and handling I would've paid. Now I just gotta get the wheels off and finally get to see the splines first hand. While I was there I checked out the new Honda fury I gotta say its a beautiful bike.

Not quite a Kawasaki but I'd ride it lol.

I went to a good auto dist. and asked for moly. Well they thought they had it. went in the back, then acrosss the street and came back with a tube. It was marked properly. standard grease gun size. i bought it. Tied it on the back of the bike improperly and lost it. Went looking two times for it..didnt want it to cause a problem for anyone...

It needs to be at least 60% moly to stand up to the rigors in the drive shaft splines. Regular moly tube grease usually doesn't contain enough moly.

I have had trouble finding in any local shops moly based grease, and have been told that all I need is good grease. I don't know one grease from another, and I am always worried that I need to use exactly what the book says. I have already had to change my final gear unit, and I keep it well greased with I think some good quality auto grease that I picked up from auto zone, but I am just not sure that over the long haul that this will do.
Any tips or advice?

DO NOT use any grease that contains less than 60% moly. You can use any grease that contains more than 60% moly. The moly withstands the extreme pressure and heat the splines are subject to. That's why you have to use high moly grease. Other greases can't take the heat and pressure. Might just as well use Vaseline if you don't use high moly grease, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise; it 'aint their bike!

You can order it on the web. I believe Guard Dog Lubricants sells 70% moly. It's not cheap, but a small container will probably last for several spline lubes. Do a web search and see what you can find. A Honda dealer should be able to order it for you if they don't stock it. Good Luck.

Here is a site that sells it, from a post or two above yours.
