well i finally greased the splines last night after having a hell of a time getting my hands on some moly 60. there was some remains of some black grease when i disassembled it which is a good thing, the splines and coupling were in good shape allthough the splines did show some very slight wear on the ends. the whole thing was pretty easy. i used a write-up done on a vn1500 that someone posted as a guide, wish i knew the name so i can give him a plug.

Glad to hear you got `er done. Was that write-up for the 1500 on this forum or the VROC forum? So where did you finally find the Moly60, locally or on line? My local Honda dealer must have had a hundred tubes on the rack a few weeks ago, when I went to get some. They wanted the equivalent of about $19 US, so I told them I didn`t need it that bad yet. I can find it on line for about half that price, but shipping across the border will likely cost as much as the grease. The stealership will probably still get my money!

i think i found the writeup or at least the link here somewhere. i tried locally at several places and the local honda shop was out. i ended up ordering it online & paying 20 bucks anyway. i was suprised, $8.99 + $9.99 shiping for a small "gun size" tube. i just got tired of looking for it and paid. i was starting to feel guilty about getting it done with all the talk about it on here. im glad i got it to in time before the existing grease was all gone.

Too bad you couldn't find a decent 750 Forum with a few write-ups, some even with photos....

j/k. It just kind of popped in there.

Must be a relief to have it done, especially since you found little existing grease present. Shame you couldn't find the grease at a better price; I know Ron Ayers sells the stuff, but I don't know if the total cost would have been better, though you should have enough left to do it at least once more anyway now. :smiley_th

Did you change the oil in the drive unit while you were back there?

It's always a good feeling to finish that job! Sorry you had to look so hard to find the writeup. The 750 writeup is in my sig. Hope you got all the appropriate torque values!

Hey Fergy --

I'll be using your write-up as soon as I clear up my current electrical problems.
In the meantime don't change your signature block! :smiley_th

Got mine at a local dealer (Hitchin Post in Hopkins) for like $10 with tax. But I had to fight with the guy to give it to me. They had it in back and it was 20 questions to get it.
fergy your write ups are great. I'm using yours for my rec and spline. It just sucks that the connector on my rect, the plastic is badly deteriorating. and it's a 2000...
