How do you replace the starter motor on a 1986

Hi, I'm new here. I'm about to purchase a 1986 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 in which needs a starter. I was wondering if someone could give me any tips or walk me through.
Thanks!
Any help is very much appreciated!

Download the repair manual from this forum.

Have to drain the oil before removing the starter.

I'll have to search for it tomorrow, but I posted a link here previously to the kit available online for about $10. It's a pretty easy repair job if you just create some space on the bench to lay your parts out and take your time.

Edit:
Here's the link...

I've done the rebuild a couple of times. Parts are cheap but not the best quality.

The repair manual can be found in my signature.

You say your buying. Have you confirmed the starter is the issue or is the bike just that good of buy?

Can you describe conditions, symptoms?

And IT'S NOT THE STARTER

Had to shout that out. These starters are rock solid. I'm just betting it's not the starter. Everyone goes there and it turns out not to be a problem. Easy enough to test, just apply 12volts to it.

I can only speak for me, but my starter was dramatically improved by a few minutes cleaning things up internally and swapping the brushes.

I would still like to know what it is doing when you try to start it.
